CONCERT CUTAWAY BODY

Comfortable to play, this attractive cutaway design allows you to play high notes that are usually a challenge to reach in standard acoustic guitars.

LOWER STRING TENSION

Playing's no fun when your fingers hurt. That's why we lowered the string tension, bringing the strings closer to the fretboard. When you press on the strings, you'll be able to form chords easier – and play for longer. Additionally, the strings were specially selected for their playability - without compromising the guitar's warm, rich tone.

MATTE FINISH NECK

The finish of the neck can sometimes cause your hand to stick. With a non-glossy matte finish, you'll find your hand moves easier along the neck - and won't get stuck as often.

Where can I purchase the URBAN Guitar by Yamaha?

URBAN Guitar by Yamaha is available through Yamaha Music directly, Walmart, Amazon, and at select Yamaha dealers.

How long will it take for my guitar to be delivered?

For customers in the continental U.S., your item(s) are expected to be delivered within 3 to 8 business days (not including holidays) after the item(s) have been shipped and picked up by the delivery carrier. For customers in Alaska and Hawaii, please allow 6 to 16 business days (not including holidays) for delivery.

Please note: We process orders Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) during normal business hours. If you place your order after hours, we will process and ship the order the next business day. Yamaha does not offer international shipping and is unable to ship to U.S. territories, P.O. Boxes, re-shippers, or package forwarding services.

What is included with the URBAN Guitar?

The URBAN Guitar by Yamaha comes with an URBAN acoustic guitar, complete access to the URBAN Guitar lesson app, as well as URBAN-branded picks and strap.

Can I return or exchange the guitar if I change my mind or there is a problem with delivery?

If purchased through the Yamaha online store, you may return your purchase to Yamaha within 30 days. We'll need to collect name, shipping address, copy of receipt/order and serial number of the guitar (located on the triangle-shaped guitar box or on the base of the neck, just inside the sound hole).

The product was damaged when I received it.

Yamaha will exchange your URBAN Guitar. We'll need to collect name, shipping address, copy of receipt/order and serial number of the guitar (located on the triangle shaped guitar box or on the base of the neck, just inside the sound hole). Yamaha will ship a new guitar package. You can return the guitar in the original exterior shipping box, or wait and use the shipping box that comes with the new guitar if you have already discarded the original.

If I return the guitar, will I have to pay for shipping?

No. Yamaha will provide a shipping label during the return authorization process.

Can I return if I purchased from Amazon, Walmart, or another dealer?

No. Amazon, Walmart and other Yamaha dealer orders must be returned via the retailer the guitar was purchased from.

The accessories were not included, can I have them sent to me?

Yes. Our Customer support team will be happy to assist.

Guitar Support

My URBAN Guitar did not come with accessories (guitar strap or pick) as shown and advertised.

All URBAN Guitars come packed with several boxes. The accessories should be contained in the smaller accessory box (with the black label) that is placed at the top of the Keith URBAN-branded box. The guitar is contained in the triangular box, and the separate smaller (accessory) box lays across the width of the package contains a clear plastic package with one set of accessories (guitar strap and guitar picks). There is also a flyer that should be contained in the accessory box. Please check both ends of the Keith URBAN-branded package for the smaller accessories box. If there are no accessories in the smaller box, or the box is missing, please contact Yamaha USA Product and Order Support for help.

Who can help me if a string is broken when I receive the guitar?

Yamaha can provide a replacement set of strings if they arrive damaged or broken.

Once strings are received, if you do not feel comfortable changing the strings, you can take the guitar to any guitar service retailer for assistance.

How do I replace the strings? What kind of strings should I replace with? Where can I get replacement strings?

The current strings on the URBAN Guitar by Yamaha are Coated Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings, .012-.053 Light. Is the URBAN Guitar an acoustic-electric guitar?

The URBAN Guitar by Yamaha is a purely acoustic instrument and does not include any electrical connection. It does not have electrical amplification capabilities.

How should I care for my URBAN Guitar by Yamaha?

Never leave in direct sun or areas with extreme moisture for a period of time. The guitar will best stay in tune and function optimally when it is played regularly, and not exposed to extreme heat or humidity. A stand for the guitar and guitar cleaning supplies can be purchased at your local guitar store, if desired. How do I tune the URBAN Guitar?

A digital tuner is included within the URBAN Guitar app to keep your URBAN Guitar in tune, right from your phone or mobile device. There's also an assistant mode that helps ensure you're tuning the correct string. Always make sure you are turning the peg of the string you are intending to tune. This helps minimize string breaks.

What kind of wood is the top, sides, back and the rest of the guitar made of?

App Support

The packaging says there is a lesson app as part of the purchase. Where can I go to access the lessons?

Lessons are contained in the URBAN Guitar app. Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play store and download the app titled "URBAN Guitar." Once you receive your guitar and have the app downloaded, you will need to register your guitar in the app using the guitar's serial number (located on the triangle shaped guitar box or on the base of the neck, just inside the sound hole) to gain full access to all lessons and content. You can access the introduction and one lesson prior to registering the guitar.

I'm trying to register my serial number in the app and it gives me an error.

If you are having problems registering the guitar, your serial number may be invalid or currently in use. A serial number can only be assigned to one person for app use. Please check that you are typing in the correct serial number. If you need help locating your serial number, please see "Where can I find my serial number" in this document. If you are still having problems, please contact contact Yamaha USA Product and Order Support.

Where can I find my serial number?

Your guitar serial number can be found in two locations. If you still have the triangular-shaped box the guitar was packed in, you can find the serial number on the exterior of the this box. Additionally, the serial number can be found just inside the sound hole of the guitar at the base of the neck. All serial numbers for the URBAN will begin with 3 letters. Currently the leading 2 characters will contain HP, IQ or IH.

What devices can I use the lesson app on? iPhone, iPad, Android?

You can use the URBAN Guitar lesson app on any Apple mobile device that has iOS 13 or newer, or any Android mobile devices that has 6.0 Marshmallow or newer.

Once I download the app, why do I have to register my guitar?

The URBAN Guitar app is designed to provide exclusive access to URBAN Guitar owners. You can access the introduction and one lesson prior to registration, just to check things out. Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play store and download URBAN Guitar.

Is there a guitar tuner in the URBAN Guitar lessons app?

Yes. There is a digital tuner within the app to keep your URBAN Guitar in tune. There is also an assistant mode that helps ensure you are tuning the correct string.

When tuning my URBAN Guitar, the tuner within the app doesn’t seem to respond consistently. How can I adjust sound/device settings for the app?

You can navigate to Application Settings within your profile and adjust audio settings. You can also test the sound of your guitar and adjust the apps sensitivity to your guitar within the advanced settings.

Is there a way for me to skip lessons and begin songs that I am interested in?

Yes. Within your profile settings, you can disable the "Pick Requirement" for your lessons and choose the lessons you would like to jump to.

I am playing the correct chord and strumming the right rhythm, but the app is telling me that I am not playing correctly.

Check the audio settings (Profile Icon>Application Settings>Audio Settings) and make sure your sounds is registering on the Input Level meter. If not, you may need to allow the URBAN app to access your device's microphone. You can access these permissions in your device's app settings.

Try the initial Introduction courses: "Play Your First Chord," "Your Second Chord," "Changing E minor to A minor," and "Your First Strums". These are the basic trainers and good ways to test if your device is hearing your performance correctly.

Some of the more difficult exercises move quickly and can sometimes miss chords or strums. Try to play as cleanly and clearly as you can for optimal performance. Practice mode is a good way to lower the speed and check recognition at a slower tempo.

Can I use the app with earbuds, Airpods, or other bluetooth devices?

Yes. Connect your Bluetooth speakers/earbuds to your device as you normally would. Please note that the app uses your device's microphone to listen to your guitar playing, so using an external speaker may interfere with the app's ability to read the input signal accurately.

I noticed one of the songs sounds "different" when I play it on my iPhone (etc.)? Am I doing something wrong?

Not at all. A few of the songs have been "transposed" musically to make the chords easier to learn. Since we don’t want to focus on music theory—and want to ensure you're having fun and playing as quickly as possible—the keys have been adjusted in a few tunes so they would make use of chords learned in previous lessons.
